Trace lead is present in effectively all salt, mined or harvested — it occurs naturally in seawater and in rock. What varies is the amount, and whether anyone tells you. We publish a measured figure and a limit for every lot.

One is farmed on a season from evaporating seawater; the other is blasted from an ancient deposit and crushed. The mineral difference is smaller than most marketing suggests. The meaningful difference is that a harvest can be tested lot by lot.

Many do. Whether any given salt does depends entirely on the analytical method and detection limit used — which is why the limit belongs on the report, not just the result. No laboratory can report zero; it reports below a threshold.

No. Celtic Sea Salt is a registered American trademark, coined in the 1970s. French grey salt, or sel gris, is the product category it was named after — harvested in Brittany and not owned by anyone.

Not meaningfully. Coarse damp crystal weighs less per spoonful than fine dry salt, so a teaspoon carries less sodium — but gram for gram the difference is small. Anyone selling you salt as a low-sodium product is measuring by volume and hoping you do not notice.

The evidence for meaningful transdermal magnesium absorption is thin, and we are not going to claim otherwise. A hot mineral bath is a good thing on its own terms. We sell it as a bath soak, not a supplement.
